engadget.com — We've already seen the Guitar Hero controller hooked up to a PC, but hardware hacker Toni has decided up the difficultly level even further, endeavoring to wire the ubiquitous plastic axe to his Commodore 64, complete with an all new "Guitar Hero-like" C64 game.

Badass. SID chips sound 50 times cooler than guitars anyway.

@lesossoTo be precise: Specifying a "1" after the device number told the computer to load the data at the address stored in the header, instead of loading it into BASIC. There were various techniques to load programs into the stack area, thus making them autostart. If there was no autostart code, then it would be necessary to execute a SYS command with the memory address of the program.

First off, thank you for your compliments of my talents, though things are easier to do when you're having fun doing them! But really, that's why I'm expending my energy working on it - I work 8 hours at my day job on programs to increase efficiency, productivity, interoperability, etc. When I get home, I want to relax and have fun - I absolutely love the Commodore 64, its a beautiful machine with a lot of meaning and memories for me. And I love Guitar Hero, because its an awesome game. So it's just a lot of fun to hack both to work together. Plus in this day in age where running notepad requires a 64 bit processor, I don't think people give perfectly good (older) hardware the credit it deserves, its still useful and fun! :D PS I have that same picture of Turing on my cubicle wall, nice choice.

I've been working feverishly all day, and should have Company of Heroes running on my Apple II by the end of the night --

The fact that he learned about the 10k resistor and how that helps makes this project worthwhile to him. He learned something that may come in handy later. Perhaps in his job, if he's practicing computer engineering.
