platformers.net — Red Octane president Kai Huang confirms not only that Guitar Hero 3 is slated for fall '07 for the Wii, 360, PS2 and PS3, but also that the Wii version will have a guitar-shaped peripheral, downloadable songs and "online play." Co-op play or leaderboards is unclear. This would be the first Wii game to allow microtransactions to add content to games

I love Guitar Hero II (never played 1), but, honestly.. I don't even think I'd feel right buying 3, etc.. because Activision went and ripped the franchise out of Harmonix's hands after they built it from the ground up...the way in which publishers can just do that to developers almost makes me feel like the whole game development model is corrupt .. :-(I hope Rock Band comes up and kicks Activision and Neversoft in the face

Do you have any links about the 'cheats' that FPS games use to compensate for network lag? I'm not trying to discount you on it, i'm really curious myself, it's something i've wondered about.

UPDATE:According to a Gamespot interview from today with the same gentleman (Kai Huang of Red Octane), the "online elements" of Guitar Hero 3 will include both co-op and competitive online miultiplayer!<a class="user" href="http://www.gamespot.com/news/6169126.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;0">http://www.gamespot.com/news/6169126.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;0</a>

f**king server. Seriously, getting dugg is enough without dreamhost messing around with it and me dicking around with the design.

Freakin' awesome, for sure. GH3 will for sure be awesome, and I'd be stoked for a Les Paul body design... anything but a Strat.or an Iceman body that would match my Ibanez Iceman bass. :D Red Octane, take note of that suggestion. ;)*eagerly awaits to see wtf will be the deal with the DS version*

A DS version would most likely utilize the "Stick Guitar" body for portability, and that would be pretty cool. or they would just use the neck of a guitar for frets/strummersomething like this:<a class="user" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapman_Stick">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapman_Stick</a>

Well, since there is a license agreement with Gibson, and not Fender, I sincerely doubt that it will be a strat.
