same thing happened to me.Since my IP is being longed for allegedly going to that site to find illegal stuff, I'm creating this comment to prove all I did was click a link on Digg!" posted by automagically (0) at 02:31 PM 1/02/06
"The United States Supreme Court unanimously confirmedthat using this service to trade copyrighted material is illegal.Copying copyrighted motion picture and music filesusing unauthorized peer-to-peer services is illegal and isprosecuted by copyright owners. There are legal services for downloading music and movies. This service is not one of them.YOUR IP ADDRESS IS 6.66.133.7 AND HAS BEEN LOGGED.Don't think you can't get caught. You are not anonymous."SILLY SATAN. :(
welp seeing as i'm a clickaholic from digg links looks like I'm all stored in their mighty though inaccurate database, which in some circles could equate to reasonable doubt.
Uh oh! Let's just say the IP of a certain judicial government agency is now logged!Yikes! But uh, for those of you who think they're safe purely due to a dynamic IP... you're not as safe as you think you are. :-/
Good Morning Silicon Valley did a piece in their newsletter about this story! w00t!"THIS MESSAGE IS IN ALL CAPS TO APPEAR MORE THREATENING Grokster's working hard to clean up its rep and go straight as a legal music service, but it's hard to imagine who it thinks it's impressing with its latest window dressing -- the luddites at the RIAA or the most clueless of Net newbies. Grokster's site has begun displaying the IP addresses of those who visit it, along with the following threat: YOUR IP ADDRESS HAS BEEN LOGGED. Don't think you can't get caught. You are not anonymous. Of course the irony of this is that most servers log IP addresses, a fact that seems to have escaped whoever dreamt up this little bit of FUD but not the tech community, which is having great fun logging in famous IP addresses at the site. "They can log my ip all they want, as can anyone else on the internet," wrote one Digg.com poster. "Idiots." "
This is the funniest thing ever. A good portion of these "logged IPs" is from this story being listed as a digg. All I have to say to the RIAA is "Dddd dddd dddd ddd dddduuuuuuuuurrrrrrr."
Just for the record. I only visited the site because I heard the word "Grokster" in the new weird Al song and I just wanted to see what the hell Grokster is/was since I had never heard of it before. I never intended to do anything illegal. I was only curious, RIAA.
visiting a sight dosnt prove that you down load shady stuff i also visited the site because of the wierd al song and has any one actully been contacted by the riaa for this it sounds like a prank. even if they collect ip addresses how would they keep track of all the people who went so that they could actully prosecute them. this sounds rediculous

Say 'someone' went to that site on a Gov't network. :OI wonder what the RIAA would do if they subpeona'd the Federal Gov't for visiting that site?

You don't know that. Chances are, if they're really logging things then they're using PHP - which you can't see. All you see is the output.
