ktla.trb.com — "The Greenland ice sheet, two miles thick and broad enough to blanket an area the size of Mexico, shapes the world's weather, matched in influence by only Antarctica in the Southern Hemisphere. However, massive glaciers are deteriorating twice as fast as they were five years ago. If the ice thaws entirely, sea level would rise 21 feet."

@postal21 - either you remember incorrectly, or whoever told you that was misinformed. Humans have contributed far more CO2 to the environment (by orders of magnitude) than all volcanoes during our existence.

@benhocking:What is it with you and labeling people who don't agree as "shills?" If I don't agree with your assertion that global warming is caused by man and not naturally occurring, then I am a shill for Exxon (I am not), if that were true, then on the otherhand you would be a shill for Gore. Whats the difference? It doesn't make you right. It doesn't prove your point.Labeling people and name-calling doesn't advance your proof one bit. Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion doesn't make them a shill any more than you are. Not all liberals believe in the Gore global warming scare and likewise, not all conservatives agree with the oil companies synopsis. I believe that global warming is a natural and continuing occurence of the cyclical nature of our planet. I also believe that we are contributing to it. I am not sure, however, that we have the technology to stop or reverse this trend OR that if we could, we should. It is nice to dream that we could control the environment or change the weather, but it's just a dream. That basically is the net-net of the debate, really. Can we change the weather?

Regardless, humans suck.

@madm0nkYou made an assertion. Back it up with a link or say nothing at all. Or we could just not provide links and BS all day, using "faith-based" reasoning, choice is yours.

I swear that I'll discover why people trust in global warming AND think its important AND think its because of us AND think we could do a fk about it. While, of course, they do nothing at all to prevent it in their own lives. Is that term, "global warming", just a way to say "No!" to new countries that would enjoy a modern comfort (India , China) , or is is just a way to avoid thinking about real urgent problematic issues, like the Gates Foundation does for that matter.Or its just that capitalism is right to put money in Bill's hands, who then relieves a little of the real pain in the real world, rather than in youngsters hands, like we mostly are here. And who have no grasp on human sufferings and just enjoy mostly pointless nerd small talk.. lets say global warming.

stylerm, by that measure you ought to no the area of Greenland. It's a little like writing for a Japanese audience and saying that "Luxemburg is roughly 2/3 the size of Rhode Island."
