guardian.co.uk — The tradition of nicknaming US states has made Florida the Sunshine State and Alaska the Last Frontier. But only one has given itself a second moniker, a move that matches its bold environmental vision.Welcome to New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment ? now also known as the Clean Energy State.

New Mexico is Mexico 2.0, and once the last Mexican gets hops the fence into the U.S., Mexico 3.0 may be released but they might just make it a Mexico 2.0 Expansion Pack.

if you do the maths on the amount of energy that falls on the ground, subtract night, solar panel efficiency, conversion to AC, voltage regulation and long distance transport. You aren't left with much.I think solar power can help in areas where there is a lot of sun but I can't see it being the solution to our energy problems, wind power seems to be much more viable.

Bring on the Nuclear plants baby! More targets for the terrorists, you thought 9/11 was bad, just wait til they hit one of these plants.

"not as cool as Arizona or Texas?" are you smoking crack? The only parts of Arizona that are really nice are up in the mountains. Texas is a humid f**khole. The only cities that are somewhat cool in Tx/Az are Austin and Tuscon. I'll take Albuquerque over Phx, Houston, Dallas, etc... If you think that Sante Fe is the only nice place in the state, you haven't seen much. New Mexico is one of the few places left where you can get a nice spread on beautiful land for cheap.

Has anyone ever studied the environmental effects of vast expanses of solar panels in the desert?
