well, no you don't 'HAVE' to use a mac for music production, but for me personally I really like working in logic and it's apple exclusive. As for other software, I use reason and Abelton Live mostly, and they honestly are almost identical between pc and mac (Reason is identical since it's a universal binary install disc). However, as for hardware, and again this is just my experience, so it might be different for you or other people, is that my Apple handles USB MIDI inputs better as well as organizing and installing plug-ins better than when I was using a PC. So no, you don't have to use a mac for music production, but I've never been happier since I switched.
apple IIe, 6502 assembly language, Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord!only good Apple ever made until now... I'm going to buy me an iphone 25 years after buying my first appleAmigas were cool but if you wanted a really cool computer you should have waited a couple few years and bought a NeXT, those were bad-ass
I kinda knew this would happen. My comment has +14/-13 diggs, which probably means about an equal amount of Apple fans/haters have read and rated my comment.Side comment: I believe the main reason why Apple's OS X isn't a popular gaming OS is simply because the game devs aren't creating many good, quality games for OS X. Many of the games i've seen for OS X appear to be sloppy ports of the Windows version (I'm looking at you, EA). Blizzard is probably one of the only companies that releases the Mac and Windows version of their games at the same time, they don't just make a Windows version and make a sloppy port to OS X.Basically: Apple sells computers with an OS that fully supports OpenGL and whatnot, and some decent graphics hardware, but the devs still haven't made anything that runs on them.

If she waited a few more months, she would've been able to play Leisure Suite Larry!
