hicks-wright.net — Anyone who is planning a trip to experience the Grand Canyon Skywalk should read this: "The view and feeling of hovering were amazing. It really was the closest I've ever come to experiencing flight...Unfortunately, the experience had already been soured by the feeling of being taken advantage of and lied to."

If I wanted to pay $75 to stand above the Grand Canyon and look down, I would hire a Cessna pilot, take my skydive rig with me and jump out over the canyon and land on the edge.

You're not allowed take photos of the Book of Kells because flash photography might damage the exhibit. Same as in most museums. Anyone with half a brain knows that.

$75 for this??? In a few years this skywalk is going to be deserted, gathering dust.

When I saw the CNN broadcast a week before public opening, I could tell already it was going to be a waste of time and money. The walkway barely extends beyond the edge and offers no additional view that can't already be obtained from being at the edge. Overrated and overpriced.

Maybe if the lady would've checked the website, all the prices of Tours and "other fee's" as she stated were listed. Everything is listed....who the heck goes on vacation and doesn't do research first??? That's like going to buy groceries with no money.
maggiesue0303Apr 10, 2007
Problem is....They aren't going to lower their fees. Thats like when city's impose higher taxes to do road work. They charge $.50 extra to each citizen across 12 cities but only three of the cities get road work done. Then the tax never really goes away.

I doubt many people will pay $75. Eventually, the price will drop...

Nobody's being forced to go out there. Instead of complaining about the prices, make it worthwhile and take a helicopter flight from Las Vegas. We knew we didn't want to pay $75/person just to see the reservation and go on the Skywalk but we were curious about seeing the Skywalk so we invested our money in a more worthwhile package and did something we always wanted to do. We didn't have to deal with the road and we flew in a helicopter for the first time. The flight was amazing. I guess I just don't understand why everybody feels so ripped off. What were you expecting, roller coasters and pretzel stands? How 'bout if the next time you go somewhere you learn about it before you get there and try getting your information from reliable sources.

Ouch, 75 bucks and you can't take pictures. What if you have a photographic memory and you're a great artist?

Just to clear up the confusion:The cost is $29.95 to enter Grand Canyon West. This fee is because private vehicles are not allowed to wander around the Rim in order to minimize human impact and preserve the natural environment which is the Hualapai heritage. This fee pays for an narrated tour in air conditioned shuttle. Visitors are welcome to stay as long as they like at each drop off location, and simply hop the next shuttle as it comes around. There is an $11.00 impact fee for visitors because the Hualapai have no electricity or running water/sewage system. All electricity must be generated through diesel engines, all water hauled in trucks, and all waste hauled out in trucks. There is a 7% sales tax.Private photography is not permitted on the Skywalk. It is permitted at all other locations on Grand Canyon West. Photo costs are:1 photo in frame - $28.04 (before tax) $30.00 after tax2 photos in frames - $50.47 (before tax) $54.00 after tax3 photos in frames - $75.70 (before tax) $81.00 after taxUltimate (4 photos In frames + 6 on USB) - $100.00 (before tax) $107.00 after taxDigital Pkg (6 on USB) - $73.83 (before tax) $79.00 after taxSouvenir Photo - $10.00 (before tax) $10.70 after taxPrices in General - Many Indian tribes generate tremendous revenue from gaming, but the Hualapai have chosen to support their people by opening up their reservation to the public in order to share the splendor of the Grand Canyon with the world. The revenues generated from Grand Canyon West pay for education, healthcare, police & fire services, etc., as well as provide employment for the Hualapai tribal members. For additional info or detailed directions and reservations visit www.grandcanyonwest.com or call 888-868-9378.
