At a local college there's this one bridge, and a general understanding that if you want to graffiti, go ahead, just don't do it anywhere else. I think its a pretty good system.
Mikejones you said it perfectly, I didn't ask for them to put their f**king billboards all over the streets. Personally I would never do a throwup on anybody's garage, thats disrespectful s**t, but don't complain if its on the side of a blown out building. True graff artists follow the some form of the rules that mikejones put up, and basically those that don't are toys, and the people that get caught.
graffiti is a beautiful culture that is rarely given a chance by outsiders. Tags and pieces are all part of the same process, there is beauty in any expression. Vandalism is itself a statement, whether or not you like the product. Graffiti is a big part of my life, and i've seen the positivity that it creates in our communities. much love : http://flickr.com/photos/67149635@N00/ if you want to explore the bay area's street art scene....

All the graffiti under a bridge in my town is a bunch of dicks and balls, so this is pretty nice compared to it.
