superrob.blogspot.com — Vicks changed the formulation of their popular NyQuil and DayQuil products, removing the active ingredient pseudoephedrine due to its use in making crystal meth. The new active ingredient does nothing for nasal congestion, and the entire product is less effective. Check the labels before buying your usual cold product to avoid "surprises".

Most "medicine" is pointless anyway. Just drink water, get plenty of rest, don't eat a lot of grains/sugars, and eat well balanced meals. See Dr. Mercola's website ( <a class="user" href="http://www.mercola.com">http://www.mercola.com</a> ) for more information on alternative health solutions

Ok, people, google is just a firefox tab away. If this ingredient is ineffective, then a whole lot of people have got it wrong. However, it certinaly possible that NyQuil has used too little or counteracted it with other ingredients. This seems unlikely since they still have shareholders to satisfy. It is possible that a drug can actually work for some and not others. I'd like to see a poll with a pretty decent sample before I'd believe it.<a class="user" href="http://www.drugs.com/MTM/phenylephrine.html">http://www.drugs.com/MTM/phenylephrine.html</a>Here is part of the message:What is phenylephrine?

"Screw that Hippy BS. When I've got a 104 degree fever I want something that'll dope me up good, not some guy banging on a wind-chime over my head!"Natural medicine is not about banging windchines over people's head. It's about using simple, wholesome, and cost-effective solutions. Most medicine is so chemically modified (I know b/c I took college level chemistry and I check the Material Safety Data Sheets of chemicals) that it does more damage than good. Also a fever is an indication that you have some illness as the body is trying to fight off bacteria or viri. For high fevers try out this simple and cost effective solution:"GARLIC FEVER REDUCERTo bring down a high fever, especially when associated with bronchial congestion: Put enough fresh cloves of garlic in a blender to make a paste that will spread thick on gauze. Lightly coat the soles of your child’s feet with olive oil so the garlic does not irritate them. Affix the garlic gauze pads to the soles of the feet with roller gauze; cover with cotton socks. Leave on overnight; provide plenty of water to drink; and watch the fever go down. If necessary, more garlic paste may be applied as it is absorbed by the body.By the way, garlic is so powerfully absorbed throughout the soles of the feet that, in short time, your child will have garlic breath!' from <a class="user" href="http://botanical.com/site/by_you/acandee_flu.html">http://botanical.com/site/by_you/acandee_flu.html</a>

antisthenex, you let the erowid cat out of the bag. Now we're gunna have all these kids polluting one of the best resources on the internet. I think it's better if they stop using pseudoephedrine. Now they need to get rid of all that other crap (pain relievers, expectorants, decongestants) and get back to good ol' DXM. What ever happened to Robitussin Cough? It's like hitting the Mega Millions if you find a cough syrup that contains only DXM. You might as well be witnessing the second coming if you can find pills containing only DXM (drinking bottles of robitussin blows). By the way, that DXM brain damage (called Olney's lesions) really only happen after HEAVY use. You'd need to drink two bottles a day for a year before you see problems like that. But you'd never reach that point because your liver would have shut down from all the sugar in the cough syrup. There are very few legal, effective highs left out there. How dare you all speak ill of one of the best. Kudos to those who actually make sure they know what they're talking about before posting.

I just bought generic versions of both NyQuil and DayQuil (just befor reading this story) and found that they still have the old good ingredient, so problem solved... for now.

Hmm.. weird.. I just took Nyquil yesterday and checked the ingredients, mine had pseudoephedrine in it... guess I'm now a crack head eh? LOL.... Mine expires in April 2008, I guess I could probably sell it on the street and get some big bucks for it... the guys at vicks are idiots... I think they are the only ones that took the stuff outta their cold medicine cuz today I was at the drug store gettin some other stuff and all the other ones I checked still have the stuff in it, especially the "no name" ones (probably made BY vicks for them! LOL).. While the "new" Vicks didn't have it, Guess when my current bottle runs out I'll have to find a new supplier! (although I am in Canada so I don't think it will affect products made in Canada).... dunno... is Vicks a canadian or american company??
