juiceenewsdaily.com— Here is an op/ed piece on the possibility of Google purchasing Mozilla. Everyone has been speculating, but will Google finally make the move to purchase Mozilla's FireFox?

Oh and for the record, Google employs one of the main FireFox developers. That is essentially most of what the Mozilla Foundation does. It pays select big developers to work on the code, provides legal, and is the owner of all the rights to the trademarks and what have you. The best thing google can do is a) give money to the foundation or b) hire some developers who work on mozilla projects and pay them ... either way, "buying" a non-profit is useless. It doesn't make you any money, it ends up costing you money. By "Donating" to the non-profit they actually get tax breaks... so again.. why buy it?
Google's shown their programming prowess on many occasions, so one can only hope that they'll acquire Firefox as well and get the code reworked so that it's actually a competitive browser speed-wise.
The speed isn't bad. Couldnt be any better I dont think without integrating it into the OS. Always room for improvement though. Even though is is already better than IE. ERic Wilson

I'm sure they could create a much more efficent, fast browser from scratch if they actually wanted to spend the resources required to purchase firefox

if they do this it could be one of the first things that turns the people against google...

Reworked speed wise? I've used a few browsers in my time and it's the fastest I've ever used.
