Okay... Think people.. this is beta software. Does anyone remember when AIM first came around?? This is pretty much what it was. Chat and only chat... no file transfers no encryption no "buddy icons", and remember no ads. Google has released what is a VERY basic jabber client with thier added voip capabilities. Which seems to be what they seem to be trying to draw a lot of atention to. Remember that they are starting from scratch. At the outset jabber does not necessarily suppport file transfers or account pictures. This is a new product. They will add new features as they are requested in bulk and as they can get them coded. I'm sure we weill get file transfers, accout pictures and etc soon . Just be patient kids. And I'm going to tick some people off here... What the hell are you talking about over IM clients that you're afraid of people finding out... I mean seriously... Do you really think that anyone wants to know what movie you're going to tonight or what you ate for lunch that bad?? I mean seriously. Get over yourself.... you aren't that important... and if you are you should be careful what you say over the internet... Let google talk be and give it a chance before you bash it... In six months if we still have the same stripped down client... complain... but i doubt that will be the case. And of course they are also using the service to get more users on gMail... gmail displays ads based on what your emails are about. Google makes money off of selling these ads. More users who see the ads means they can charge more for them. So yes, they want more gmail users. duh. Everyone has a right to thier opinion but come on give the new kid a chance. Google has some great products out there and this has definite potential to be one with its simple and straightforward interface. With any luck we'll get more of the features we want and less of the bloat from ads, etc which so far has been my experience with google. Unobtrusive ads, useable services. Let's wait and see digg army.

Good god, do you people know what the word "monopoly" even means? Hint: It's NOT a company that does everything.
