I...I just fail to see the point. Sure, I understand what you did, but it's useless to know that "the" is the most common search term, just look in the dictionary for chirssake. It'd be much more worthwhile to consider just proper names.
It might not be interesting to you, but it is to those who are interested in word statistics. A lot of text compression schemes are based upon word frequency, and given that Google has the largest digitized English corpus, it's instructive to compare with previous, much smaller corpuses.
Actually, the most popular "word" that can be entered in Google, currently beating the word "a" by one hundred and twentyfive million, is "www" (currently 25,270,000,000).
Nubious, speaking of words.......could you PLEASE tell me what your user ID name means?! I awoke from a dream a few days ago with "nubious" being the last word I remember......I cannot find the definition ANY PLACE on the web and it's driving me over the edge...lol.thanks for your help...Leah

It's a sad time in history where the word "copyright" is used more often than "an".

I agree, the only interesting ones on there were "copyright" and "privacy."

But... the whole list of 27,000 words including their 2003 and 2006 ranking is included at the end of the post (as a download).
