googleblog.blogspot.com — Google Video customers were fuming when the service's termination left them locked out of their purchased content, with a mere $2 in Google Checkout credit as compensation. Well, unlike many companies, Google has responded to its users' dissatisfaction by revising its policy for the better. Read the details in this Official Google Blog post.

Smart lesson well learned. Google seemed like a company too smart to use DRM on it's content in the first place, but they decided to bend to marketplace pressure - now they are reaping the bad karma. They won't use DRM again in a hurry, but I guess if they end up doing media downloads again they'll have to fight with this question in some form.Is there an effective alternative to DRM that protects content providers work while not inhibiting our freedoms?

Not worshipping Google = stupid - ok "MrPig". I realise some of you guys here don't get out much, but being a fanboy of any company doesn't make YOU better or wiser. I expect good customer service and when I get it, I appreciate it and let the company know. I don't start posting on messageboards saying "wow! I **HEART** this company so much, these guys can never do any wrong!". And for the record, no I *DO NOT* think Google provide good customer service. Google's biggest service is their advertising network. Click fraud is huge - some estimate 10-15% of clicks are fradulent. Google estimates 2-5% - even if Google's estimate is correct, this is a HUGE amount of money companies are paying to Google for these clicks that they should NOT be paying. Google hands out Google Ad credits if it deems you have been a victim of click fraud. If it deems you have not, your only option is a law suit. Many companies have had to take a law suit against Google. Hundreds of thousands of others just don't have the time, effort and money to do so. GOOGLE SHOULD BE PREVENTING CLICK FRAUD IN THE FIRST PLACE.You guys are praising Google for such a miniscule part of their business, while they cash in billions from fraudulent clicks and it's up to the advertiser to make the claim rather than for Google to prevent such fraud in the first place.
