What would/will really suck is when this goes into a bidding war. If google just barely looses it will have caused AT&T/Verizon to take out some pretty massive loans in order to win. Guess who will be helping pay those bills off and receiving no new services at the same time.

There isn't a company out there that isn't harvesting every piece of data they can get. In return Google gives you an excellent search engine and a better mail system than it's competitors. You can use their system for free, or you can use someone else's system for free, or you can pay out the ass for access but at the end of the day nothing you send over the internet is solely yours anymore. Grow up and deal with it, no one wants to hear your s**t.
