The idea is that they offset their usage, so the power load is spread out more, and the peaks are removed. This essentially reduces the extra power supply needed for backup.

If anything, I hope it reduces the need for business travel. Most of the time it is a huge waste of time and a big hassle. 90% of it could be done via go-to-meeting type software.
