Shipping Exploder with their OS did in fact consolidate Microsoft's position as leader in the browser market and did effectively disable any serious competition. People are either too lazy or ignorant to download alternatives in most cases unless they're somehow forced to. To this day Microsoft's vastly inferior browser and mail clients holds the largest market share, despite being breeding grounds for hackers and virus afficienados. Not saying Google is completely in the right but M$ imho has always been in the wrong.
The reason why Microsoft wins is they provide a endless users experience that other company never can.Just look at office 2007.Which company can develop and deliver such great integration between graphics and apps?If have any please do tell me...And that is the reason why I have piles of Microsoft software on my computer.
This is freaking stupid. Oh Microsoft has this, and we have this now. Mircrosoft cant do that, because its anticompetitive.. well guess what.. Microsoft was making windows before you googleons at google had an internet to search on.
The anti-trust lawsuit was done under the argument that Microsoft was hurting consumers..I say BS. Who was actually complaining?...it was the competitors, not the consumer. Nobody held a gun to anyone's head and told them they must buy Windows. So far that anti-trust lawsuit has only made it easier for competitors to become rich and lazy without having to actually make better products. (Hey we need cash, lets sue Microsoft then settle) If anyone actually believes that the anti-trust lawsuit helped any consumers then they are naive idiots. Right now no one does it together as a *whole* more smoothly then Microsoft. Sure, there are problems here and there and critics always like to make rhetorical and nit-picky complaint about every little detail in Windows, but compared to that convoluted mess called Linux (all 256+ variations of it) Microsoft Windows is the cleanest most integrated solution with the most abundant software, hardware, and support. ...and if you want to be overcharged for the hardware to run that pretty, yet restrictive Operating System called OS X, go right ahead.
Looking beyond all this, does google take any information in your desktop searching? for its 'market research' i wonder if they take in statstics to see what people search for the most, if this is true then thats some good free market research, and having them loose it would be worth there while getting it back.
