Wow, the ability to easily share an online presentation with someone is super-neat! Now they just need to add streaming audio and GoToMeeting and NOT Microsoft is going to feel the hit.
Here's where they're going with this:Next up is a "Desktop" version of their office apps, which is not much more than a local web server, similar to Google Desktop Search. The Google Desktop Office is accessed through your web browser, just like the on-line apps. It automatically synchronizes your on-line documents and makes them available locally, along with full revision history and backup, whether internet is available or not.Later on, they'll release actual desktop applications to provide a richer experience for editing and presenting documents.Following that, they'll release corporate Google Office servers that allow organizations to privately host their own Google Office servers and keep their documents private.
