Well their is an approval process for apps on the android market and RIM App World, but their barrier to entry is practically zero. In the event you do get rejected, just release the app on your own, Android and Blackberry OS support downloading of software outside of their respective marketplaces (and you no longer have to share revenue).For the record, I own a Blackberry Storm, before that, Blackberry 8700g.

Google and Apple seem to have smoothed everything over since this article was written years ago. Google has a terrific mobile device UI for iPad and iPhone users now.
