Man the Indians are going look forward to this. Facebook is like popular in North America and Europe. Ortkut is big in India. All my Indian students use it here.
Why do you all suck at commenting. Orkut happens to be huge in other countries like India which is actually huge. Have you noticed that since Facebook opened up, there are a lot of new members from the middle east and India?
I honestly don't see what power there is in google's services. Orkut is nowhere near as useful in terms of features as facebook. And nowhere near as big, either. Perhaps opening up gmail's features as an api could let it be inco-orporated into facebook. Other than that, anyone see other implications?

I was working for the biggest web analytics company when Google bought Urchin (now Google analytics). That was a scary day for us.

facebook is getting more popular in india... :) most of my friends have moved to facebook from orkut.
