The iPhone doesn't have iChat.The SMS app looks like iChat and seems to sound like iChat, bit it's just SMS.

Gateways tends to overloads Jabber servers because of parasites who use Jabber for them rather than for jabber contacts... Avoid using them, choose a multi-protocol IM client if you can. =]
