onedegree.ca— See that last feature (simple memorable URLS) is also the greatest weakness of Google Pages and I think it is going to cause a huge headache for Gmail users. And a potential PR nightmare for Google.

niles, perhaps I'm mistaken, but it appears that "site settings -> site name" simply changes the name of the site in the title bar (the equiv of the title tag in html). This does not change the site addy, which provides your gmail account name to potential spammers, or others who want to email you.imo, this is no big deal. for minors, the elderly, and people who can't discern spam and phishing schemes from legitimate email it may be cause for concern.
author is a d-bag, using bad journalism to hype it up as if 85% of the generic / retarded email addresses everyone uses aren't on every spammer's wordlist anyway..
first of all, who is going to be giving their gpages url to anyone but family or people they trust? that being said the only way to find the gpages url is to actually to do some brute force guessing... and what makes that different from someone just trying to brute force all *@gmail.com accounts??? Am I missing something here? well I guess now you could search for something on google.com limiting results to *.googlepages.com, that's just a guess though, not sure if you could actually search like that... Also, if this actually is a problem, google will just give users the option to change thier url to not reflect thier emails addy if they haven't already given that option.
google has a good spam catcher???well yes that's why I cannot receive all the business proposals coming from Alibaba; maybe just because it is a product of Yahoo! Go hell Google!!!
"Google has a good spam catcher"?I get 30 or more spam emails a day, in FOUR LANGUAGES. Since we all get 2+ gigs for Gmail it's not such a big deal, but it's still an annoyance to sift through spam in my spam folder every now and then just in case a valid email for me gets marked as spam. So forgive me (and others who get spam) for not welcoming opportunities to be spammed. Digg.
no digg - overly paranoid!I get loads of spam to my gmail account and i dont think its out on the web anywhere."stalker, sexual predator" - i mean - really! ints the internet, just filter their emails or ignore them and if youre a parent then pay attention to your kids internet behaviour or are computers supposed to be parents too.
