WOW look at all the google ads! do you think you could fit more ads on to a crappier website?

It will mean writing applications across all participating social networks, and actions in one network will be known by your friends in the others. And probably more, I haven't read too deeply yet. This all of course hinges on social networks giving away their social web information, which is what makes them their money. I don't have too much faith in this so far.

I think the types of applications we get with OpenSocial are likely to be a lot more varied and interesting than those on Facebook. Initially, I expect it'll just be a case of porting apps from Facebook, but right from the start it's likely to start attracting new apps, due to the fact that you don't need to learn a new markup language. As it covers such a wide range of social networks with completely different demographics, the applications that appeal to users of different social networks will differ wildly - those on LinkedIn might want business-related apps, whereas those on MySpace or Bebo are likely to prefer more fun ones.

WARNING! OpenSocial is nothing but a ploy to convince YOU to become a marketing tool for corporate objectives. It's for the type of people who don't understand that when you give your entire list of contacts to a website, it causes YOU to become a delegate spammer. It is a psychology tool that blend the line between "keeping in touch with your friends" with "forced speech to all of your friends".
