googleblog.blogspot.com — Google Maps now support auto save location, auto fill previous searched locations, labels. "Google Maps will automatically save every location you search for. You can also go to the Saved Locations list to disable auto-saving of locations or to add, modify, or delete previously-saved locations. You can also add a label"

A long time coming on the saved locations. But how long until it evolves into folksonomic tagging a la del.icio.us? One day you'll pull up your address and it'll list "popular tags: obese ComputerGeek MountainDew BlackTshirt AlwaysLookingOutWindowArmMovingRapidly".

Does Google have to put a technological mindboggling idea every time they do something. I bet u want google to reinvent the toilet with something totally radical.stop being overally critical and expecting tech marvels evertime google farts. Sometimes u just have to fill in the gaps and provide missing features. thats what this is.

@kallenaka.I agree, Live's maps still have the lead in a lot of ways. A few weeks ago I tried to figure out how to get Google Maps to let me share a location based on where I'd scrolled to. I couldn't figure out how to do it, it would only go to the point I'd searched on, which was almost half a mile from the picnic area I was trying to guide people to (appearantly this will work if you use their e-mail feature, but not if you use the "link to this page" feature). With Live Local I could easily create a URL to an arbitrary location and, more importantly, I could include a "push-pin" marking the eact spot of interest, complete with a caption of my choosing.Shame too, because I tend to find Google's UI to be a bit more intuitive.

Very good article on "HOW GOOGLE WORKS" here:<a class="user" href="http://www.baselinemag.com/article2/0,1397,1985040,00.asp">http://www.baselinemag.com/article2/0,1397,1985040,00.asp</a>

sending a link to anywhere you want is easy with google maps. Just drag or zoom wherever you want to, then click on Link to This Page on the upper right of the map. The page is reloaded with the new url that has the lat/long/zoom in it. Cut and paste the new url and share away. I'm sure that feature has been in there from the start.

Yeah, i like the pushpins in local.live.com much better than copying and pasting the lat/lon to a separate page. But the only real mapping website out there for me is mapper.acme.com Mainly because it does topographic maps.. Now if only someone would make a tool to export my "saved locations" to a GPS waypoint file!

Nice, but they have totally screwed up printing map directions. I'm forced to take a screenshot and print it in order to get a large map printed the way I want it.People have been complaining about it for over a week now.
