mashable.com — You're probably familiar with Google AdSense and AdWords, Google'sGoogle flagship advertising products. It's how Google makes its billion of dollars. Google has just launched the DoubleClick Ad Exchange, and it is just like AdWords and AdSense, except that it is a marketplace for display ads.

Yeah, how outrageous that people try to make money off of their hard work! Obtrusive ads like flash overlays and flash ads that make noises are a bit short sighted, but I don't see anything wrong with Adsense and other programs that are relevant to what people are looking for anyways.

It's usually the alt text for an image directly next to the word Google. You can't paste the image into Digg so the alt text is displayed instead. In this case it's the alt text for the image that links to blippr.com (that =D)It also happens on here when you try to copy and paste someone names.

Good call - Babel Fish copy/paste confirms this.

As long as I don't have to look at them, I don't care what they do to advertise.Active ad blocking is sweet.. I am starting to forget how annoying they were.

Clearly no one on digg understands this from a business standpoint.

So annoying flash ads will be more relevant to my interests? erm...I guess thats a little better than before. Maybe no more hearing this :Congratulations! You just won a free iPod!

advertising rules the internet. Google is trying to improve an outdated system and create a better experience for the advertiser and the customer.

What does this do that AdSense doesn't? I have both text and images appearing on my AdSense placements. I would assume that the advertisers are targeting geographically and by keywords.

I use Firefox/Flock browser. They have great addons, like adblock plus, cookiesafe, and noscript. These addons can block unwanted spyware that are on online ads.
