Was he awarded the job? That's what I'd like to know."3) A database is exactly like your mother. If she sees me make a mistake, then ten years later if you ask her about it again, she will remember every detail of the mistake I made and will be able to tell you everything about it. You can also ask her for a list of other mistakes I have made in the past six months and she will be able to provide you with that as well. This will let them know you're not completely dull and have a sense of humor and can answer the question at the same time."Well, to an eight-year-old nephew I think they're looking for creativity, which was fully provided.

Since the question states he was thrown in instead of dropped that would imply the the blender was not standing up-right hence you need only walk out or if it is up-side-down fall out.

on number 1) if you're the size of a nickel and your mass has been reduced proportionally, then I doubt you'd be able to build up the inertia you'd need when "rocking" to get the blender to tip... or even move at all.. ...just click your heels three times and say "there's no place like home"... :)

Q: "You are shrunk to the height of a nickel and your mass is proportionally reduced so as to maintain your original density. You are then thrown into an empty glass blender. The blades will start moving in 60 seconds. What do you do?"This is a physics questionIf your density stays the same then there is a higher concentration of particles inside than outside. Therefor the medium would equalize and particles would leave your body and you would end up with a density of 1(water). So as the presure decreases so does volume. So eventualy you would end up with 1/1 =1 so the blender would have no effect.

I wondered whether the blender question wasn't designed to make the applicant reflect upon his current situation. Anyway, what better way for Google to illustrate that recursiveness happens not just in programming, but in everyday life too? For those who endeavor to find a seat at the giant's table, the interviewing process must be harrowing--just as it would be to find oneself in a blender whose blades will begin to spin within one minute. And, just like being in the blender, one only has so long to formulate an answer to any question asked, and if too much time is taken, or if the wrong answer given, then the end comes swiftly. Compared to the colossus, you are insignificant and unimportant. The giant's primary purpose is to delight himself by registering your response to a series of arbitrary and seemingly mindless questions. Possessed with God-like powers, He alone will decide your fate.

Well that's a first. Avoiding the Bay Area because of the weather??FYI, Mountain View can get a little hot in the summers, but Virginia and New York both get hotter. And, of course, much much colder in the winters.

Coming in way late, but it seems to me Google is going for the eggheads which runs the risk of getting IQ-smart people with very little common sense (we've all me people like that), with the result being them making amateur blunders in public such as...<a class="user" href="http://money.cnn.com/2006/03/07/technology/google/index.htm">http://money.cnn.com/2006/03/07/technology/google/index.htm</a>

From NY too and have lived in the south bay for 13 years. The climate in the Bay Area is actually pretty comfortable 97% of the time. I lived in places with central air but seldom used it. I still spend time in NY and recently Florida and am always pretty happy to come back to the Bay and its great climate. It's not Phoenix.

U r right man ... Most of the interviewers i have seen try to show themselves as genious ... finally ending up in asking the most stupid questions ... If they need to really find out the calibre of the candidate, i feel they must be very casual with them and devise their own questions ( which might be wrong or might be correct ) and then discuss that with the candidate. I think thats the true interviewer .. In my entire life i only had once such experience .. i really loved that interview... It was more of a discussion than like a teacher asking a kid for blind answers... One such funny interview i would like to quote here : At amazon .. i was asked a question " For n is a prime > 5 prove that n^2 - 1 is always divisible by 24 " .. ... i frankly said i dint know .. and also asked the interviewer what was he expecting for the same ... He said .. he wanted me to tell that n^2-1 is ( n-1 ) ( n+1) ... i was shocked .. is that the proof???? .. This problem is solved in detail in the book called " number theory and cryptography " and it uses the Fermats theorem for it ( trust me its too complex and i learnt it long back .. i dont actually remember ) .... So this shows how genious the interviewer is :) ... or how genious he think he is :)

Great article. I've compiled a list of 140 Google interview questions. Check it out: <a class="user" href="http://blog.seattleinterviewcoach.com/2009/02/140-google-interview-questions.html" rel="nofollow">http://blog.seattleinterviewcoach.com/2009/02/140- ...</a>

You should have Googled the weather first. Bay Area weather is milder in both winter AND summer than New York.<a class="user" href="http://www.cityrating.com/citytemperature.asp?City=San+Jose" rel="nofollow">http://www.cityrating.com/citytemperature.asp?City ...</a><a class="user" href="http://www.cityrating.com/citytemperature.asp?City=new+york" rel="nofollow">http://www.cityrating.com/citytemperature.asp?City ...</a>

Blender Answer: I take out my cellphone, take a picture of my assailant, and post it to Facebook along with my predicament. Then I shout at my assailant that if doesn't get me out of here, he'll be charged with murder.
