I've been having a look around the net, and it looks like a corporate thing. Some guy who got to it while the page was still available, copied the source (wise move) and posted it here:http://cocaman.ch/_platypus/Looks like (if you view the source, in the comments) it is an internal file sharing project... please let us use it too, Google :D
Platypus is the system that Google use internally for file storage, remote access and collaboration. It is no big secret that Google had this platform for internal use, and were investigating if they could launch it more broadly. What I think has happen here: * for some reason somebody saved a copy of the platypus main page to the writely server (probably while designing a new writely login page - they used this as a template)* the 'saved page' theory works because of all the broken image links * there is no reason to have a platypus login page on writely.com* whoever found the page mistook a Google internal app for a public app - from what I know Platypus never had 'G Drive' next to it, they have either added it in or the person who took the shot put it in to make it more interesting.Google 'google platypus' or similar phrases and you will see that it is an internal file storage app.
I'm sure Google is reading this website's comments and laughing. If you are reading this, Google, please release this platform on a wider scale for free, and it might not be a bad idea to integrate it with web-based components, like letting people upload images then link to them in forums, like image hosting or something. =P Well, I'm not emailing Google with my suggestions about their secret project... lol.At any rate, if they ever did choose to release this, it would mean a revolution for how people look at the internet. File sizes would start to mean less, and computers wouldn't be as binding as they are beleived to be now. I think the problem with the internet today, is how much illegal stuff is on it, that people can physically access but aren't allowed to, and if caught, could get in trouble... Platypus would either amplify that problem or eliminate it. At any rate, people, calm down. If you don't want Google (or any other file storage service) to have your personal data files, then I have the simple solution for you. Don't upload them! File storage services are great for some people, but some others oppose it, as obvious by their comments. If you want to keep your personal information personal, just don't share what you don't want to share, and keep the rest on your hard drive. Seriously...At any rate, I hope they do launch this project, and sorry to make my comment so long. =P~ Kirk

sort of. gDrive is a 3rd party app that uses your gMail account. This would be completely seperate.
