techtainment.net — The new Google Desktop has a setting to index your GMail. If turned on it is a violation of GMail's own TOS. In response to using GMails own indexing software, they have locked me out of my GMail for "unusual usage". Nice move Google...

Wow, what kind of s**t are you people speculating about? Google the new Microsoft? Google trying to phase out gmail accounts? Why the hell would they want to do that?

I agree w/ the previous comments.. It seems that you're jumping to conclusions here. Assuming one thing relates to the other, when you don't seem to have done any research into the matter.. unless I'm wrong?

meh, free and beta - Besides I don't like Google Desktop. so it wouldn't affect me in the slightest now if G-talk or me using outlook/thunderbird to check my Gmail causes a lock out I would be pissed.

Now that is funny.

"If you feel that you have been using your Gmail account according to the Terms of Use or otherwise normally, please contact us at gmail-lockdown@google.com to report this problem."Yes, well, I'd love to know how you are supposed to do that when they locked out your email account. I mean, isn't GMail supposed to be the only email service you'll ever need?

>>>I am currently using 60% of my storageUnless you're using it to store lots of large files (which is against their TOS, BTW, read it again), I have no idea how in the hell you could be using 1.5 gig in your email account. That's just effing ridiculous.I agree that it's a bug and the thing shouldn't lock your account down by accident. But at the same time, you're using way more storage than normal. It's still a real issue as the guy saying that he's using 4% got locked out too. I haven't gotten locked out on mine, but I'm only using 2% or so.

It's perfectly normal usage and pales in comparison to my Outlook archives. Some of us actually USE our email. I'm sorry no one emails you... (hug)

I use my email quite a lot, actually, but then I also delete things I no longer need. :P

Depending on the size and number of attachments, I could see it getting kind of big. Of course, then you are using your Gmail more as a pseudo file server than for e-mail. Nothing wrong with that, per se, since Gmail can be used that way even following their TOS, but there would probably be more efficient methods for saving and accessing files. But, hey, if works for you, that's all what truly really matters.
