google desktop actually does need some work. deleted files are still returned for some queries, or moved files are returned linked to the wrong location. and some files don't even show up at all (not weird files either, just ordinary mp3's and whatnot). and i cant believe searching across computers requires the index to be uploaded to google servers.if you want to search your computer from anywhere, download foldershare and if you have google desktop search installed, foldershare puts the search bar in your account, so when you log into foldershare, you can query your computer from any web site. and download any result. encrypted too.

"It's really good to search for files. It only takes a few seconds and it searches within the file!"welcome to Mac's Spotlight, instant search that searches within each file....

I wonder if they fixed the problem where it wouldn't index some web pages which I assume was because I had multiple Internet Explorer windows open.I still prefer Copernic Desktop Search www.copernic.com for indexing and searching e-mails, files and contacts.

I'm going to uninstall WDS and give GDS3 a try. One good thing I will mention about WDS -- it lets you set the url of the search engine you want to use.
