groups.google.com — Google Earth Plus ($20) for Linux, as released, removed GPS support. The feature is included in the Windows version. There is no mention of this difference before you purchase. Why would Google would want to support Microsoft by removing features from their Linux versions?

Now that I think about it more, I don't think this is an issue of "going the way of Microsoft" One of the posters in the newgroup mentioned the GPS button was there before but didn't really worked. I think this probably a bug, and they removed the option for a feature that doesn't work yet, but it will probably appear in a latter version

I am sorry about the trolls part. I mean, most desktops still run Windows, regardless of how good linux is - that is a fact.

What you could do is quit your f**king bitching about it. More people use Windows than anything else. I use Windows and OS X. I don't bitch because Final Cut is on OS X and not Windows, and I don't bitch that ubuntu works better on Windows than OS X. Instead of f**king bitching about it, just use an alternative. Jesus f**king christ you people will bitch about any thing in the f**king world. Yeah, digg me down, yay for me. I think it's f**king pathetic this s**t is news and on the front page because some guy is f**king bitch. Hey I know, I'm gonna submit a story about Final Cut not being on Windows and then it'll make the front page because everyone knows all digg users like to do is f**king complain. And that's why I'm complaining right now. :)

Actually cablito, imagine this scenario:They release the client as open-source. They hold on to the data and you can only access it with an account. Now there's no magic hole that the money disappears into. As for the issue, I have faith in Google on the basis that they've contributed a lot of code to the Free Software community and on the basis that their Summer of Code pays for improvement in Free Software. I'm sure the reason it was taken out was because it wasn't working well. I'll wait.

Yep. It's crippled. Removing a single feature means it's cripplied. It's the end of the world. Dear God, help us.Typical over-exaggeration from the Digg crowd. Well done.

Right there with you. Someone above said it best, Linux geeks are becoming the "poor put-upon" minority. Quit whining and do something constructiveCripes, when did this place become Slashdot? They took out a feature that was buggy. Would you rather they left it in and broken where people complain it doesn't work? Don't think for a second they wouldn't put it back in if they could get it to work and make money selling it. Not everything that goes wrong with Linux is part of some MS conspiracy. Sometimes, stuff breaks.
