why does it matter?

Maybe they picked a logo that resembled other logos so people on digg would speculate about its origin and it would get 3712 diggs. Bravo Google, Bravo (claps hands slowly.)

i don't know if i tried the pdf in chrome yet, it not one of my main things i do. But the ajax and flash has a lot of trouble in chrome for sure.

Not surprising when you think of how many people use Windows, the colours symbolize a well known brand.

Both Microsoft and Google know it's of mutual benefit though. Familiar colours between the two only increases awareness of their products.
