Google has stated that plug in capabilities will be implemented during May of 2009 (i.e. this month as it is officially the first of May) and that they will be very easy to make and implement. I hope you realize that Google has far more projects to work on than just this one.

I think you're wrong about the target audience. What you're describing are people who will never even think of changing their browser, in fact, most of them will still go "internet explo wha?" after using it for two years. Their browser for them is "the internet", the word browser is most likely strange to them, so they wont go looking for a new "internet". We are the target audience, and we will be the ones who end up talking them into, or just installing a new browser.
