tech-recipes.com — Step-by-step walk-through of exporting from outlook (or any other scheduling program that exports to CSV or iCal) and importing into the new Google Calendar. Although google calendar was difficult for me to log-in this am, this tutorial worked perfectly for me.

Unless you want to start sharing a calendar. Then it's all screwed up. This is a serious bug that needs to be fixed TODAY!

The gmail thing is definitely creepy. So the company that says, "Don't be evil" (or whatever) is now saying, "Serving Chinese Internet users (is) the company's No.1 priority". This was recently quoted from Google's chief executive Eric Schmidt at a conference in Beijing. I'm sure we all know how Google is handling its searches in China.I can just see some scenario in the future where the [insert enforcement agency here] subpoenas your Google data and says, "Well, according to this email and your calendar you were involved with the [insert pro-peace, electronic freedom or left-wing group here] when you met with 'Jeff' at his 'house'. We know that Jeff is involved with [group mentioned above] and we easily found his house thanks to satellite mapping technology. Paranoid? Maybe...but it seems to me like we're giving away our freedoms for the sake of convenience.

The Google Calendar is great, but right now it is slow as hell. That and I keep getting failed messages for accepting invitations, etc. But that is what beta is for.

I know, I hate Lotus Notes too. Unfortunately, I'm stuck using it. Which is why I was hoping Google would save me with their Google Calendar

That isn't a fix, that is a work-around. This is still a bug that Google needs to fix and I would hope that it would be soon--especially for the all those not living on the Pacific Coast.

I'm really surprised that Google didn't offer a syncing utility out of the gate. I'm testing 3 calendars now and none of them has it totally right:1. 30boxes - nice interface but offers no syncing functionality.2. Trumba - They do sync to Outlook, but their RSS calendar feed is horrible.3. Yahoo - They sync but could never get their syncing app to work here at work.

Now if only I could LINK Outlook and GCalendar instead of just importing...

What is the email address for support on this. I found a bug, but don't know where to submit.

Re: syncing with outlook - try the competing airset.com calendar. It syncs with outlook but maybe isn't as nice as the google one.

Synch will work when someone pays someone to support it.Activesynch works with Yahoo calendar for instance.

One big problem is that Yahoo exports to CSV on it's own whims. Yahoo decides the range of time to export, and not always is the data even sequential! I have an annual birthday marked. The exported events had it for 2006,2007 and 2009! The CSV has no indication if it is a recurring event. Also the date is in no standard format. Yahoo doing everything to prevent people from easily moving away to better calendar apps like Google.

Thanks for posting this, I was wondering why it kept importing in PST. I suspected that was the issue, so I fixed it with an excel formula and copied the values then uploaded.
