What I've really been impressed with is searching for something on Google and seeing what it now does with results that are from a forum. If Google can figure it out (i.e. if the forum type is a common type) it will display the number of posts in the thread and the date of the last post in that thread, so you can see how old the information might be.
That's definitely more useful than scrolling a page for you, especially for those of us who use find-as-you-type on the (now rare) stupidly-long pages anyway.
Yeah, I noticed this on Yahoo! Search a while ago. I never thought I'd see it on Google though; I always figured it would make their results page less minimalist which they've always been big on.

Just another way for Google to index how you use the web. You can be sure this has less to do with usability than it does with click tracking and ads.
