LokintheComplex - That question has no bearing if we still import from China, right? Last time I checked, we still do, making our actions of importing the very visible sign of our approval.Additionally, we are pretty fascist for a constitutional democracy. Look into the laws and such over the last 10 years and read authors such as Naomi Wolf and of course Noam Chomsky.

Does that mean you would not have sent troops to free Europe from the Nazis because it was up to the Jews to do something about it?

I'm not saying the West is perfect. But people flee to the West rather than anywhere else. If people are fleeing TO China then we'll know there's a problem.

Google has $10 Billion in cash, $14 Billion in short term investments (what kind? maybe commercial paper. Not a financial expert), etc, and they could swing the rest of it with stock. They have excellent cash flow so could afford to unload some of their reserves. They could easily do it. Would they do it? I'm guessing no. The motivation would be to weaken China's stance, thinking it would be easier to keep Google in China rather than let their entire search industry walk away. But China would just promote another search site. So Google would plunk down $19 billion on Baidu to force Baiduo to join Google's threat to walk away, knowing that if they really did walk away they just threw away $19 Billion!? Puhlease. On the other hand they'd likely only need 51% of the company to force their agenda.
