blog.dcharti.com — Believe it or not, Apple might actually be telling the truth (countless times) when it's said that they're working out a way to allow 3rd party apps without jeopardizing the security or reliability of the iPhone. It's a 1.0 product, and some may argue even a .8 beta product—when was the last time you've used a 1.0 product that worked reliably?

Great article. People think apple's got a great big shiny box with a giant button which says "DO STUFF" and when they press it, third party apps are enabled. This kind of work takes time, money and people. Apple wants their product to be good, not just ok, so it needs time and testing. And the article is right: Stop crying. If you don't like the product, then don't buy it. It's not as if you didn't knew third party apps weren't available.

You know, if Apple wants people to wait for an official SDK, why don't they... I know know... TELL US THEY'RE WORKING ON A FREAKING SDK?!?! I'm sick of people excusing Apple's behavior about this by saying "they're probably working on an SDK for official 3rd party apps!" Well I say there's a simple solution, Apple steps in and settles this once-and-for-all.Please Apple, tell us whether or not you're actually going to "bless" 3rd party apps. Until I hear it from your mouth, I'm not buying any of this hear-say. Oh, and FYI, I will not be buying an iPhone unless it's open to 3rd party apps.
