wisam.wordpress.com — Yesterday, I posted a story on digg claiming that Gmail was open for registration with no invitation or cell phone activation code. The truth is I was wrong, Gmail is not open yet to most of the world. It’s only open in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Egypt.

The first story was correct. If users in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Egypt can register with no codes or invitation then the service is open. You cannot "half" open a pre release product, it is either fully open or fully closed.

@m3mn0n:Just read the article. Ok, so I understand why it's open there now. But I still disagree with the previous commenter who says "i don't consider it third world anymore"

could u tell me why it should be considered third world? i consider it to be developing..thats not third world

@aamer: it doesn't offend me exactly, but it pisses me off when i see how egypt has developed in the last couple of years, and i compare now to 2-3 years ago and i can see a huge difference. which makes me proud and i can see a loooot of potential in egypt to become even better. but then someone on the internet comes and calls egpyt a third world country

@WisamI'm impressed that you apologised for the misinformation, given the amount of asinine s**t that comes through digg like liquid s**t through a goose on any given day.If more people posted retractions when they are wrong, digg would be a better place.

Does liquid s**t go faster through a goose than any other animal?

I buried it as inaccurate yesterday... I'm sure some other people did too. How come I haven't seen a story labeled as inaccurate in forever?
