blogs.zdnet.com — The Google Operating System blog tells us that everyone in the world is now available to sign up for Gmail, but that's clearly not the case (yet). However, there is very strong evidence that this will be happening sooner than later — on February 5th, this help page was updated to state they have already "flipped the switch."

Worked for me...they require you to have a mobile phone to sign up though. They send you a code via text message and you enter it to join. Kind of a weird way to verify. If ya wanted an invite just replay with your email address, I've got a buttload of invites
