metlin.org — Gmail has been down for me and a few others since about 12 AM (EST). I've described the symptoms of what seems to be the problem on my blog. I filed a bug-report with Google and they responded saying that they are aware and working on the problem. Are any other Digg users having this problem? Any ideas/workarounds?

Gmail is down for me too, also yahoo messenger appears down as well, after a search i found what may be a rumor and what may not be a rumor, reporting that several major servers (typically under Microsoft) was/are under DoS attacks. I'm not sure the truth behind this but that's what is going around

The site and IMAP's down for me (Philippines), but I can send and retrieve emails via POP3, a bit slow though, but at least I can.

It's been down in Jacksonville, FL since about 12am last night. When I'm logged into iGoogle I'm able to see the preview of what's in my inbox including new messages, but I have tried every way possible to get into Gmail it nothing works.I can't believe they haven't released some kind of message to everyone letting them know what's going on and when they estimate it'll be back up.

Not sure who you're talking to Jim... I'm not upset because a free service is down... I'm suprised. Gmail is typically very stable, and it's odd that one part of it would go down while you can still maintain access through another venue (like the iphone). I'm not sure, haven't read all of it, but I don't see much whining, just suprise and confusion about the way it went/is going.

This is probably a DOS attack or something and google has shut most of the domains down.<a class="user" href="https://googlemail.com/">https://googlemail.com/</a> seems to remain unaffected. It works great for me and I suggest you try it out.
