huffingtonpost.com — Fox News infotainer Glenn Beck told his viewers, "I told you so!" Beck said too many people assumed Scott Brown was a small government conservative. I don't believe he ever claimed to be a tea partier or small government conservative.

@deity The definition of "uninformed" is not "someone who disagrees with you."Come to think of it, you dismissed someone else's opinion and labeled him uninformed without knowing anything about him except that you disagree with him. Hmmm...just like Glenn Beck would do.

"I'm not asking to roll technology back..."Funny, because its government intervention into industrial R&D that affords us such technological advances."I would also want those 10 amendments applied equally to all citizens..."Funny, because if the bill of rights actually did afford every person of any gender, age, race or religion the exact same rights, there wouldn't have been a need for the 13th-15th 17th & 19th amendments. If the Bill of Rights protected everyone equally, how were states, corporations and the wealthy elite still able to own slaves, employ children and prevent women from voting? Obviously, the system was still very much "game-able"."The average life span had nothing to do with the government."Until the government started funding medical research (usually via the military), and imposed limitations on pollution, working conditions and the like, in order to improve the quality of life and average life-span for citizens. There is a strong correlation between life expectancy dramatically increasing and the government becoming involved in those things."Local government should have most of the power with the federal government only being there to provide a framework for the state and local governments power."How exactly, is a local government any more adept at handling complex legal issues that affect millions of people, sometimes across state lines, then the federal government? And more importantly, who qualifies such adeptness? The people can be fleeced or aided by anyone with the will to do so, so does it really matter if its someone in Washington, their state capital or city hall?I'm no child that requires direction, & I am a firm believer in self-reliance but until this a nation built on the principles of true equality, the government most certainly does need to intervene and direct the actions of those who could prey on others as it has been so often done in this nation's history. I elect my government to do their jobs and protect the interests and well being of the people from those who can and do game the system.

Ttaxes are taxes. A business gets taxed so do the people who use buy or deal with that business. You're still TAXING!!!So the cutting taxes is just a big frickin lie.

@aadyssEnglish much?as it happens...I have no insight into the sex lives or substance abuse issues of Neo-cons...It is the abhorrent foreign, domestic and economic policies which they relentlessly pursue that I find so reprehensible...and if you had even the vaguest understanding of the damage they do to our society, our Earth, and to humanity at large... you would too!
aadyssFeb 26, 2010
@digg4peace,I now understand. You actually believed your college professors and friends. I just thought the professors were eccentric buffoons that live in their little bubbles, smoke pipes, grow beards and drink sherry while your friends were just to high to realize that they have no lives. Poor digg4peace. Be at peace for that warm feeling of liberalism will take you over soon as you complete your income tax forms and discover that you have an abundance of money left over. It would be really comforting to me and others if you would forward an additional $25,000. That would be really nice of you and hubby. You do write a much larger check than required by law don't you?

The government took $216 of your money. To earn that money, you drove on roads provided by tax money. You used electricity, which would be much more expensive without subsidies, which come from tax money. You may have gotten some water at some point, which is clean and available around the clock thanks to sanitation provided by, you guessed it, tax money.Paying taxes sucks. That doesn't mean there's no reason to do it. We should cut spending from some places, but that doesn't mean that all taxes are bad like a lot of people on your side make them out to be. And no, it's not hard to see that money being taken away. I do owe a lot of money in student loans, and when I'm worrying about how I'll be able to eat when I move in two months, money is something I think about.

"...power of the unions diminished..." = good. I was a union member and do not care for them at all. They totally disgust me with their strong arm tactics and the self serving attitudes served from the top."...the public coffers have been drained by private interests..." A nice liberal talking point."...infrastructure is sorely outdated and crumbling..." A few years ago In my city of more than 450,000 we passed taxes expressly for the improvement, repair and the implementation of new infrastructure projects."...we have a higher infant mortality rate than Cuba...? Why? Our health care is so bad? I have a great grandson who was born last October and if it were not for the excellent doctor, nurses and hospital both mother [granddaughter who is poor and without health insurance at this time in her life] and son would have perished. If it were not for our excellent health care my father would have died long before he did at the age of 81. My sister would have succumbed at the age of 6 in 1947."...we rank behind in everything..."I have traveled over the years to more than 95 countries and have lived for extended times [ some more than 7 years] in five different countries. Sorry, I have personally seen the opposite of your claim."...our military has been broken..." I currently know three current military officers and they have not informed me of that crisis. I served for more than four years in the 60's and our military looks and performs far better than we did in that era. They have far superior weapons then I ever had the pleasure of utilizing."...our education system falls behind many banana republics and yet fools like you sit around denouncing science, education and facts..." Our education is run by the government and yet you call for more government? When have I sat around denying denouncing science, education and facts? You seem to have me confused with someone else. In my immediate family there are a long line of people who have served and died for this country. Two were killed in WWII, another three served in combat in WWII, an additional dozen served in the military with two of those serving in combat in Vietnam. Currently my family has obtained numerous college degrees, three master's degrees, one PhD, two medical doctors, one extremely successful attorney who commutes in a private jet from Key Biscayne to his office in the northeast, two airline pilots, one popular professional sports figure, several college sports stars past and present and a few multi millionaires. The funny part of all of that is 99% of them are Christians who invoke the name of Jesus. That fact has not seemed to harm their lives at all, wouldn't you say? Those who do not invoke the name of Jesus are not mocked or criticized by any family member unlike many of your intolerant type mock Christians."Grow up." Oh, I think I have a few years of maturity on you 'sweetie' and have seen much more of life than you ever will experience.

You really don't know what you are talking about. You have a fixation on the rich and disregard those middle class who are employed due to the demand of products manufactured for the rich. Without the rich those thousands of people would be unemployed. You're a 'cut off your nose to spite your face' type of person.IRS data shows that in 2004, the richest 50% of the taxpayers paid 96.7% of all income taxes. From 1986 to 2004, the share paid by the richest half increased from 93.5% to 96.7%, and the share paid by the richest 1% increased from 25.75% to 36.89%. At the same time, the amount paid by the poorer half decreased from 6.5% in 1986 to 3.3% in 2004. While the poor's contribution was cut in half, the richest Americans saw their contribution increase by nearly 50%. When you get past the propaganda, for the last two decades the rich have been paying more and more while the poor have been paying less and less.

I am a Canadian old style conservative and it looks like I'm going to get many tomatoes for writing anything here.I'm not a Beck fan but I'm also not a fan of your regime in charge. They scare me and I'm in Canada. It seems most here though are very happy with your "hope and change" promised by your marxist regime in charge. We kicked ours out last election but they'll be back a some point I'm sure. It's the way it is.I do think though that WE IN N.A. HAVE FAR TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT IN OUR LIVES.Conservative ,Liberal, marxist (America) communist (what your regime wants and is heading to).But many here seem to somehow think that more government is better. What's really frightening is the fact that the looters are almost in complete control of the producers. Bureaucrats in control of course I'm speaking of.I know that makes you special interest folks happy since you don't produce anything. You simply take what producers make. The end is near according to Ayn Rand on page 410 of Atlas Shrugged.Go read that and tell me that what she says is not exactly happening right now in your great country of America.I'm a Ron Paul fan but he will never get in...unfortunately for Americans.Good luck and I pray that this Obama cult ends next election for your sakes. And the world economies sake.
