gizmodo.com — The economy sucks. But like Warren Buffett, you should be greedy when everyone else is skurred. If you've got the extra scratch, this is probably the best holiday season ever to buy an HDTV, since retailers don't want a pile of them going obsolete in their warehouse. But what should you look for in an HDTV?

I am a pro and my advice is simple - If you have the money, buy SONY, since they have the best electronics (color/motion/etc.) and use SAMSUNG panels (or did, but may be going with Sharp now). If you don't have the money, go with Samsung. Waiting for the Sony Bravia XBR4 52" to go on sale at Fry's is the best way to get the best LCD available today for the best price.

"There is no one size fits all display technology"probably not til OLED reaches the masses hm?

OLED is not a viable display medium yet. A 50" OLED panel is as cost-effective as a 15" plasma display.Even then, OLED is an emissive technology like plasma. It will be limited by ambient light.

The source material for a display in Costco? Probably a DVD hooked up via composite. I wouldn't dismiss a particular model because of what I saw in Costco.

A lot of uneducated people out there when it comes to projectors. You can go ahead and beleive what future shop, and best buy and all those other large electronic stores tell you. They dont want to sell you a projector, they want to sell you the 3k tv... they don't make money off smaller, more compact, and larger screens.Truth is, projectors are more and more possible for small places, large places, and even small budgets. They are way cheaper than most flat panels, and possible to have for small rooms. Our living room is pretty small, and it works perfect. But you keep whining about lack of space etc. Here is one of many excellent modelshttp://www.benq.com/products/Projector/?product=11 ...Or are you naysayers just perturbed to be outsmarted by a girl?

When you're old enough to move out of your mom's old house and are in the market for a brand new house, you'll see that most modern houses are designed for the tv to be mounted above the fireplace.
