@ajb2015 -> so who really hates our freedoms? the terrorists or the neo-cons?They're different?

There was a head of government in about 1932 who abolished various freedoms using external and internal threats as a justification for their removal. Once started there can be no turning back. Arrest without a hearing or warrants, Imprisonment without trial, restrictions on travel and free speech. What next? enforced military service, federalizing the Reserves? If you can't work out who the head of government was, then your in deep trouble.

If one wants to divine the meaning of the Constitution, one only needs to read the Federalist Papers. The biggest constitutional perversion is taking the meaning of "the people" and having it mean something else, beside you and I.To change the meaning of the constitution, all that is required, is to amend it.

Can't you see, you have drank far too much kool-aid?The problem isn't our freedom, the problem is the distribution of wealth and power in the world. The middle east is sitting on the energy supply of the world, and they have lost almost all world power. What they are sitting on should make them a bigger player in the world, but they are not. This is really due to them having a highly controlled education system, that isn't honest, and because they have a power structure that would be destroyed by any change, but they don't see that. All they see are the last 60 years of being sh1t on by the rest of the world, and now they are pissed about it. Study your history more, and watch Faux News less.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world. Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties. Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts. **All quotes by Abraham LicolnMY Favorite: He can compress the most words into the smallest ideas better than any man I ever met. - Hello Newt!

Gingrich is spouting exactly the kind of rhetoric that terrorists want to see from American's. The whole point of the 9/11 attack was to create fear and undermine the pillars of freedom this country was built on. And Republicans accuse Dems of helping terrorists?? "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania (1759)

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania (1759). Gingrich is doing the work of the terrorists by suggesting this garbage.

yeah this guy...im all down for freedom of speech. im sure if he wasnt 90 he would realize that restricting people now adays only makes them find ways to get around things. trust me. anyways this part:Gingrich said America has "failed" in Iraq over the past three years and urged a new approach to winning the conflict. The U.S. needs to engage Syria and Iran and increase investment to train the Iraqi army and a national police force, he said. "How does a defeat for America make us safer?" Gingrich said. "I would look at an entirely new strategy." He added: "We have clearly failed in the last three years to achieve the kind of outcome we want."we've failed? looks like he needs to brush up on his history. in war, you dont acheive every goal you set out to do. you have to pick and chose. looks like we chose and now pay until were done.

If Gingrich's comments aren't supportive of treason, I don't know what is. Authoritarian demagogues such as him are the types of which the founding fathers were most wary. Luckily, there is little chance that an amendment to seriously weaken the first amendment would ever pass.
