Ya, but there's the usual "not everyone's seen it" reason. And it's probably good that we get reminded every now and then just how primitive humans can be (I refer to the parents and Mr. Jeffs).

He got kicked out because of supply and demand. If every man is expected to have at least three wives, the best way to achieve that goal is expel the competition and increase the ratio of women to men.

if you read the article, they do point out that boys need to be expelled in order for men to have multiple wives.
