I think I am too dumb to follow the last few steps posted by projoe. Flash tutorial please?
nacsSep 25, 2005
Using a custom-made Ruby script to leech all movies in all sets at lynda. So far, I've gotten 16GB worth of movies (more than half of all movies on the site I believe). ;)
diggdaemonSep 25, 2005
Nacs should post a torrent....please.
mrjkwikSep 25, 2005
wouldnt it be easier for nacs to post the script and how to do it, then to post the torrents. 16gb worth of vids is a lot to be uploading, even with torrents.
projoeSep 25, 2005
Digg replaced it again: and I just noticed it took out another chunk of the steps so here's an image that shows step 12:<a class="user" href="http://img320.imageshack.us/img320/8886/step120ou.gif">http://img320.imageshack.us/img320/8886/step120ou.gif</a>

you rule joe. its working i think. one minor change to the last step, add a double quote after .mov and before the < / a >
nacsSep 25, 2005
Almost done with the full download now... and it's quite a bit bigger than 16GB.For those planning on leeching the entire site:I'm at 29GB downloaded now (almost done now though thank god). Currently at 3,261 quicktime movies in 613 total chapters in 46 unique tutorial sets.In other words, the full library is quite huge and getting the full set will probably take a while if you're only on a DSL connection. In that case, I'd recommend getting the a 1 month subscription which should give you plenty of time to download all the sets.To those requesting torrents, I'll make one for each set and put it on p.b. (I'll let you'll figure out what the abbreviation means).

hey instead of explaining how to generate and correctly format an HTML file with all the links, why not create the HTML file (since you've done it already) and post it somewhere (yousendit, torrents, etc) so everyone can just import it into HappyHarvester ?
nacsSep 26, 2005
projoe--Didn't realize it had a password by default. I've disabled the password now.Total size (as shown in the text file linked above) is 39GB.

The link: <a class="user" href="http://lynda.com/freepass/cs2/">http://lynda.com/freepass/cs2/</a> no longer works. Just use this link:<a class="user" href="https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/promoSignupForm.asp?promo=24hCS21">https://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/promoSignupForm.asp?promo=24hCS21</a>I don't think they'll be idiots forever, so hurry up and register.

I also noticed that the previously effective 'download embedded' script (the one that looks like the red arrow) no longer works on all videos. It would be great if someone could post a work-around for this.
myicqMay 29, 2007
"Download embedded" script w/ red arrow DOES work, but you can download from the same page only ONCE. Then you have to re-load the html file from "movielibrary.. " again, to get a new link.I have just fetched about 150 videos using a simple perl script. No Problems once I figured out their security system.

I'm having the same problem as animal2007, videos that are over about 25mb~ dont work with the red arrow embedded downloader, they just appear as 2kb files that are corrupt.. any help would b much appreciated, going to lose my internet for a while soon and want to be able to work through these tuts while its gone.. :

Actually in the ToS it says.4. Limited License.lynda.com hereby grants each Subscriber a limited, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable and non-transferable license to Access the content and information available in the OTL according to the provisions contained herein, and subject to the payment of the applicable subscription fees and adherence to these Terms. Whether the Subscriber receives a license to the Premium Content or Standard Content depends on the subscription plan. Each Multi-User Subscriber may only allow its employees and agents to access the OTL. If the Multi-User Subscriber?s license terminates, the Multi-User Subscriber?s employees and agents shall no longer have Access to the OTL. Each Multi-User Subscriber agrees that the OTL may not be Accessed by more than the authorized number of Users purchased by the Multi-User Subscriber. Each User shall be authorized to Access the OTL from any Internet connection.A Multi-User Subscriber administrator selected by the Subscriber (the ?Administrator?) shall be designated to oversee and be responsible for management of the User accounts. In the Faq it says. Can I download your online tutorials? The training can only be watched online as streaming video. It cannot be downloaded to a computer. If this is not convenient for you, you might also want to consider our training CD-ROMs, which can be watched on your computer at any time without the need for Internet access. Click here for more information on our CD-ROMs.Its making a statement about the streaming videos. Now I dont read anywhere where it explicitly says you are not Allowed under any circumstance to download the videos. If I am paying to watch there videos on my computer then I can download them for referance. Its just like recording TV shows on my Tivo.
