There has been a lot of things about Wine on Digg lately. I don't think becoming dependent on Wine is such a great idea. Use it only for things you can't live without.
He is correct, this come out two or three releases of ubuntu ago and it is now much easier to install decrypter and shrink. When it was current this was the best info there was on decrypter and shrink however. Props to Mr. Bass on that. He's a great community member.
Excellent Now i can almost totally switch to Linux........Kinda off topic but how about getting dreamweaverMX......fireworksMX......Photoshop.....flash to run....does anyone know if this is this possible???
Technically it has nothing to do with the legality of ripping DVD's but that ownership of DVD Decrypter changed hands from the developer (Part of the deal to save his ass) and the new owner (MPAA or whoever) changed the license restricting all usage. Now the question is if you believe in software licenses and for that matter ones that change after being agreed to.
No point in running a dvd ripper through wine/cedega.. If you are using a debian based distro (like ubuntu is) just add the following line to your /etc/apt/sources.list file: deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian/ sid(and off course change the sid if you are not running unstable)Then issue a simple command: sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get install acidripThat's it.. You now have a powerful and easy to use native linux dvd-ripper/transcoder installed and ready to use...
sorry to disappoint u but DMA is turned on by default in most Lionux distros. And thats y you'll never change ur mind about anything. once your mind is made up that its too complicated, its too complicated (period)
ALLWAYS use SUDO, this is for all that has not logged in as root!To log in as root, is not to secure, so, "sudo su" or "sudo apt-get install --reinstall k9copy && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade"All this is to gain fresh installed updated / upgraded os!
How exactly does saying that support your point? Just because linux has a large amount of readily available software, does not mean they are not of high quality. In fact, I find linux software perfectly fine and suitable for my purposes. If you want, I'll give you seven reasons to hate Windows. Most people start off with Windows, and make the TRANSITION to linux. Windows is not bad; but I find it completely annoying sometimes. I constantly got BSOD's, a lot of the time for what seemed like no reason. Also, registries were a pain in the ass. After I switched to Linux, I became used to not having to use GUI's every damn time I needed something done, and also being able to use text configuration. Linux also is less permanently-screw-up-able. Bugs are fixed FAST. No need for disk defragmentation. Freedom in terms of customization, without having to mod anything. Linux distros also run so much faster than Windows, for the most part. They don't get progressively slow, either.Windows is really, really, slow on older computers (and even newer ones, now).Sure, Linux might have downpoints, but they definitely don't outnumber the benefits. Everytime Windows comes out with a new version, I imagine a desktop setting more compact, complicated than need-be, retro, then the previous version. The only versions of Windows I have ever liked were 98 and xp. Microsoft Word 07, looks like its made for idiots, btw. No offense to anyone, but who the hell needs a toyish theme like that? ~just thought i'd throw that in there.
