cbsnews.com— Anheuser-Busch paid $40 million for "pouring rights" at 12 stadiums across Germany, something Germans and tourists have had trouble swallowing.

I cant stand Budweiser and the TV ads they are using around the World Cup matches in the UK are just insulting. However I do love many American beers, but the good ones are pretty hard to get in the UK. (It seems many countries like to only export their worst, such as Fosters from Australia). But If you can get hold of a bottle of Serria Nevada from the US, go for it.
What a wonderful discussion in here, especially for me as a german (but born austrian)But hey, you would recommend "Bitburger" to them as a good German beer? No way!I'm living in the biggest hop cultivation area in the world (called "Hallertau") and what I (and really most of all the other people here) would recommend as absolutely on of the best beers is "Augustiner" http://www.augustiner-braeu.deIt even get mentioned in popular Rap-Crew's lyrics here, but is (as far as I know) mostly selled only in bavaria..! But if you have the chance to get it - TRY IT OUT!
I almost completely abandon beer altogether, then I found Shiner. Everyone gets bud lite. I don't understand though, if everyone hates it, WHY THE f**k DO THEY STILL BUY IT?
he he bud = dishwater that´s right. our german beer got much more alcohol and taste much better than the us beer.just try any german beer and you will see/feel the difference.
First, I need to restate the obvious:1.- Bringing Bud to Europe (especially Germany) is like bringing moonshine to Bordeaux2.- Bringing Bud to Europe reinforces the notion in the average European that ALL American beer is crap. Whoever hasn't tasted Sierra Nevada, Fat Tire Ale, Anchor Steam or Sam Adams is obviously missing out. Unfortunately, this global “Wal-Mart-ization” of beer manages to sell pisswaters like Bud to millions because it is cheap and is pushed by massive advertising/brainwashing campaigns. I do have a few corrections:1.- Ad "Krystal Vyson" as somebody mentioned is Kristall Weizen, a type of Weissbier ("white beer") made in southern Germany. Weissbiers include Hefeweizen ("yeast beer") that is unfiltered, Kristall Weizen (filtered) and Dunkel (dark). Weissbiers are not lagers, and actually do not even conform to the German Purity Law because they contain wheat malt. They are top-fermented, mostly unfiltered, bottle-conditioned brews with a fantastic variety of flavors. Hefeweizens are usually quite smooth and fruity, with a full body. The typical Hefeweizen taste is determined by the particular species of yeast used in Bavaria, which distinguishes it from its Belgian or American wheat beers. There are often citrus or clove, bubble gum, banana and vanilla flavors produced by the yeast. 2.- Budweiser (and here I mean the true Budweiser, not the swill produced by Anheuser-Bush) is Czech, not German as somebody wrote. It has been in production since the 13th Century in the city of Ceske Budejovice in southern Czech Republic. The neighboring Bavaria calls the city “Budweis”, the adjective being “Budweiser” (from Budweis). When Adolphus Busch and Eberhard Anheuser started brewing beer in America, they adopted (=stole) the name Budweiser for whatever reason. Today, Anheuser-Busch shysters argue that at the time the name Budweiser was not registered at the time, therefore AB was the first one to register it and thus should have the rights to use the name worldwide. AB tried to buy out the Budvar brewery in Budejovice recently, but the Czech government blocked it. Hopefully, it stays that way.
I cant believe Budweiser poured 40 million into selling budwieser in Germany. Trust me their are plenty of people here who hate Anheuser-Busch, Budweiser and all of their cat piss products. I'm from Latrobe, pa, and we used to prodice a very popular brew called Rolling Rock, that just went national recently. Anheuser-Busch came in bought the brand but not the brewery, your telling me they can pour all that money into selling bud over there but they couldn't keep an american tradition going here in the states, that ridiculous. That beer was built around my home town and until they destroyed, and they market it now like they still brew it in Latrobe. There scum and their beer sucks, and encourage everyone to boycott their products because they plain cna't produce anything but dishwater.
I take that comment back. Budweiser has sold out to InBev. Because of this I'm no longer a Bud drinker and I've burned everything Budweiser that I own.
I found out yesterday that Budweiser bought out the company that made my favorite German dark beer — Dinkel Acker — and discontinued it. I bought the last 12-count case of it in the liquor store, have drunk one, and am definitely going to take my time finishing off the others. One more reason to hate American "Budweiser."This sucks. What's next on the beer chopping block? Newcastle? Boddington's? UGH!
