So you're accusing the Union president of not freeing the Confederate slaves? Is that it?Do you at least know that the Union army freed the slaves of all the confederate states they conquered until they were all liberated by 1865?By the time of the 13th amendment, slavery had been completely wiped out in all states.

No one ever said he messed up. I think most logical people agree that the civil war was a necessary evil. Even though the country was politically "united" following the civil war, it was still very much divided (and by some assessments still is today). But keep in mind that he didn't ratify the 13th Amendment since he was, after all, shot before it was approved by the States. And yes, the ending of slavery over here, much in the way it did in Britain, was done out of convenience. The people who weren't making money off of slaves were always the ones most willing to free them. And if you're a student of Latin, then you can appreciate what Booth said after he shot Lincoln, which goes back to my overall point behind even posting here: historical memory. Lincoln was hated during his time and is now thought of as a great President, whether rightly or not is in the eyes of the beholder. So stating that Bush is the worst President ever means very little, since many said the same thing about Lincoln.
