variety.com— "We don't want to make movies. We're about to get into television. As far as Lucasfilm is concerned, we've moved away from the feature film thing, because it's too expensive and it's too risky.

Kinda/sorta on topic, but what I said last year when the talk first came out of a live-action Star Wars TV program - this is going to, without a doubt, the BIGGEST TV show of all time. When it actually starts airing it might suck ass and only last one season, but the pre-premiere hype for this one is going to be off the frikkin charts. I can't even imagine how much Lucas and the network (is it confirmed already to be ABC?) makes off of the advertising for that one.
Are you kidding? Did you read the same article I did? Words like "monetization", "brand", and "quantity" just scream "I'm all about the money now" to me.
with the budgets they have? The talent they have access too? Yes, if they can output something better than never ending series of XXX movies and teen dance off's, they might be able to get my dollar. There is no reason to spend upwards of a hundred million dollars to produce a movie that in no way challeneges it's audience.
i agree with you superalamar. if you look at the saw's, maybe some will disagree, but i love these movies, they are challenging to the viewer, granted the acting isn't the greatest, but they made these movies relatively cheaply and got such a huge return, if we saw more things like this (no pun intended) i think the movie industry could boom like crazy. i think they may have to put in check the salaries of movie stars these days. thats one huge issue. they get paid millions of dollars to make a s**tty movie, whereas the work i do is beneficial to the world and i get paid about 23$ an hour. just doesn't seem right...

Not to mention the overpricing, the utterly s**t movies, and all round poor experience?

http://www.moviehole.net/news/5533.htmlMy understanding is Kevin Smith closed the deal to do the SW TV series just before the last SW movie came out. At that time, oddly after savaging eps 1 and 2, he declared ep 3 A-OK.What a weird concidence, eh?

Just how much money does lucas need? And why should he be earning any the last 10 years, while displaying a complete lack of talent.
