timesonline.co.uk — Passengers landing at Gatwick airport are being greeted by a giant naked pole dancer. The 9,000 sq m (100,000 sq ft) image is painted on grassland under the incoming flight path. Planning officers are investigating whether permission was granted for the advertisement, which promotes a website.

This isn't the first time I've heard of faces on Microsoft products. My MS Comfort 3000 v1.0 optical mouse shows a skull and cross bones with it's light, and my co-workers is a gas mask.

@ somedigger5My first instinct was to just put "HAHAHA" a whole bunch of times, call you stupid, and then be done with it... but you know... upon thinking about, it I guess I can understand why you would see it the way that you do. I'll admit that my first point is debatable. There doesn't seem to be any shortage of advertising dollars in the world, but I'm working off of the premise that a sign of that size would be exceedingly expensive. Most companies do have finite advertising budgets and to spend that much on one form of advertising is going to limit the amount of advertising that they are going to be able to do elsewhere. You probably won't see less signs for Coke around, but smaller companies would most likely have to choose one or the other. Either way, we may or may not be able to actually see a drop in the number of billboards and whatnot we see on a daily basis. On my other point. There's no shortage of farmland in the world at all, but the question about world food supply isn't one of gross land mass... it's one of economics and land usage. It's going to be hard to explain this without going into a boring rant, and if you were here I'd be busting out a pen and paper to draw graphs (one of the side effects of a degree in economics is that people fall asleep when you talk). I'll just sum it up by saying that the United States (and other developed nations) has way too many farmers, which drives the price of produce down so far that they would not be able to live off of the revenue alone. To compensate for this, the United States government subsidizes farmers by giving them a certain amount of money. This allows the farmers to continue with the excess production. The side effect of this is that poor countries, that cannot afford to subsidize their farmers, get f**ked on the international market because there is such a huge supply coming from developed nations. If some of the rich nation's farmers dropped out of the market, it would lower the supply and allow poor countries to compete. The net result would be the same amount of food production. If we came into a situation where we were not producing enough food, the price of agricultural products would rise and value of farmland would go up. Former farmers, who are now advertisers, would once again enter the agricultural sector and the market would reach an equilibrium. That's about as simple as I can explain it without going into too much detail. If anyone really cares I can elaborate upon some broad assumptions that I made. In short... nuh uhhhhhhh

"Nine workers took more than 15 hours to build the cover, which is so big that satellites are able to photograph the image from space."What's so great about that? Satellites can photograph my car from space... I know because it's on google maps.
