I don't think any lawyer would go after a non-profit organization for insider trading. They literally hand out millions for free; let them get insider info.Besides it isn't insider info to see that reform or not in healthcare it has become unstable.
Sylvainp- Yes, Canadians in general to admire the current USA health care insurance system because they can receive care without having to wait for up to a year to get medical attention for their health needs. The wait cause directly from the fact that the Canadian system is a socialized universal health delivery care system, much like the one proposed by the Obama reform care system. So lets hope you do not get that system but rather get my point.
As a Canadian I can tell you that you are wrong on both counts. The vast majority of Canadian prefer their own health care system. I've never heard of any one having to wait for a year for a procedure and I would suggest that some republican made that number up. It would be headlines here if it happened.
Just so you understand, The vast majority of Canadians would rather see blood in the streets, and would riot if any government tried to impose a US style health care system.
After all, who wouldn't? We get quality care in a timely manner. For those who do have to wait a month or three for a voluntary procedure, they can go south, or visit a private clinic in Canada. In other words, we get the best of both worlds. The public option with the ability to go somewhere else if we so choose and have the money. We too can buy supplementary insurance so if we want we won't be out of pocket for pharmaceuticals, glasses and the like to cover the deductible.
And, FYI, we choose our own doctor and specialists. Waiting times are very low and you don't wind up losing everything you own if you have a heart attack, or some other medical crisis, as does frequently happen in the great USA, and most often to people who THOUGHT they had health insurance.
What good is health insurance if it won't pay, or you still lose everything you have? What good is health insurance if you are denied coverage, or lose it when you need it? What good is health insurance if you can't afford it so wind up dying in the street after the US health care system has sucked every penny out of you then kicked you out of the hospital when you run out of money? Yes, I know, that illegal, but there are many, many people dumped out of US hospitals onto the street for lack of funds. Yet the government doesn't do anything about it. Great system.
Contrary to the US, almost every single doctor in Canada is a doctor because they want to help and heal people, rather than in the US where many just want to be rich.
You can keep your US health care system. As a Canadian with chronic health issues I have never had to wait for anything. And I've never had to pay or sell my home to afford health care. Is our system perfect? No. Not by a long shot. But every Canadian is covered, and can receive care without having to worry about their financial life dying.
If you like your system, your welcome to it. I'll keep mine.
No surprises here--Bill Gates is nothing if not shrewd. He sees that the socialization of the health care segment is going to be a disaster for any investments there, and he's moving his monies accordingly. Personally I hope he's wrong and the whole push falls apart, but one can't fault his thinking.
So hospitals specialize. This is the same in Europe and the emergency responders know where to take them without the wasted advertising expense. Public advertising is both overkill and a clear sign that executives would rather glamorize their work-day spending money in the media. I saw this happen when Television News cut their coverage domestically and with bureaus overseas. Instead they did branding makeovers every season. It was a way for executives to build their own portfolio rather than cover the news.
My first inkling came decades ago when my sister, talked about how they went on a trip to Disneyland where the entire park was open only to their group as a reward for her husband's sales in pharmaceuticals. Another example is my former co-workers wife, also in pharmaceutical sales. I lived and worked at their gated house in Scottsdale, AZ for three months. She works about 4 days a week and makes six figures. She books four star hotels on the San Diego waterfront to entertain doctors who might specify the drugs she represents. These are health care dollars being squandered rather than used to treat illness. Doctors and pharmaceutical sales people seem to think they are entitled or just accept this scenario without question.
Really? I've heard Apple are doing pretty damn well in other countries, too. I'm no fanboy, but to say that they're not as well-known as Microsoft now is simply living in denial.
