Agreed I make no apologies, the quality of life in America is great, that is why everyone wants to come. Why complain? Sure Turkey uses less gas than we do, but the quality of life sucks there.
I actually believe there's a ton of truth to this statement. There was a similarly-minded article I read a little while ago about how bicycles could solve many of the problems you just listed, without significantly modifying our sprawl.I agree on a more personal scale as well. I'm a 15 year old teenager living in California suburbia (three quarters of the Digg community has just stopped reading...), and, as a result, I can't drive yet. Aside from the occasional rides I get from my parents, I end up biking or walking to do almost anything socially, and you wanna know something? It's really not that bad. I'm looking forward to driving, but more often than not, I'll probably continue to walk or bike into town.In other words, just a little bit of effort on citizens part could fix the issue, without changing our sprawl issue at all.P.S. This is all coming from a libertarian who thinks that global warming is BS. :D
You are branding yourself as an assh**e, I just picked a random name from where i happened to be looking at the time. Fantastic that you managed to figure my political views out from just that. Are you a scholar? Oh i get it, you're trying to seem like a smart ass without actually having to say anything that hasn't been said before "Right wing/freedom fries", You coin that s**t by yourself? Write more books please.Go be a pompous c**k somewhere else
It takes a lot of gas to move fat people, our government pours gas on our money to burn it, the CIA uses gas to waterboard people and we have all these pesky tanks to fuel. *Sigh* whats a country to do?

That documentary is clearly wrong, it was clealy George Bush. That documentary was made before George Bush became the whipping boy for everything.

IT WOULD BE A DIFFERENT STORY IF GM WASN'T PAID OFF TO DESTROY THEIR ELECTRIC CAR. SEARCH------ DOCUMENTARY: WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR? Or you can go here: http://www.sonyclassics.com/whokilledtheelectriccar/ It will piss you off.

I didn't find it confusing at all, it's perfectly obvious the US uses more than all those other countries combined.

what the hell?? Saudi Arabia is the largest producer of oil, followed by Russia. Like Europe, the US is a net importer - in fact the US has to import nearly twice as much as it produces. http://www.sonyclassics.com/whokilledtheelectriccar/ - surprisingly educational site! Compares EV, hybrid, biodiesel, ethanol and other alternative fuels very effectively, worth a look. Thanks sugablonde.
